The Supply Chain Manager (SCM) has the overall responsibility of understanding and forecasting the target sales of each outlet and thereafter assessing which products are required and/or have potential to be sold in each outlet and in what quantities, this is in cooperation with sales department and based on historic sales and warehouse data. Having understood this, the SCM will be responsible for procuring products of the appropriate quantity from suppliers for ultimate delivery to the outlets and thereafter ensuring that up to date stock records are maintained for each outlet and warehouse with the overall view of ensuring everything that is procured and supplied at the required time so as to keep cost of goods on company level to a minimum and cash flow flowing.
